Juice Pack Evaluation

- what was the theme of the project?
the theme of the project was to make and design a juice pack. your own ideas and you had to also make up the name and the company and also the logo of the juice.

- how have you developed you ideas? how did you change your work throughout the project?
at the start of the project we all wrote down a list of words your would associate with drink a fruit juice or a drink. also names of different fruits. we then tried to stick words together to make a word or a phrase that was 'cool' 'funny' 'funky' etc. i finally came up with the name pommerriple, which was the mix of pomegranate and ripple which i thought was pretty cool. it made me laugh, we then tried to think of different characters that could be on our juice pack.

- are there any aspects of your studies that you wish you had explored further?
i wish i had explored different characters for my juice pack, even though I'm happy with the characters that i have got on my juice pack, think i could of found a character that was more let's say appropriate for the task. i would also of like to of explored the layout of my juice pack as i wasn't quite sure what i wanted where and more importantly why i wanted it there.

- what meaning and messages did you want to convey and were you successful?
i wanted to show that the juice that i was advertising and selling was cheap to buy, it lasted for a while and it was healthy for children and also the adults that were buying it, and i personally think that my juice packet would come across as that it is healthy etc.

- are you happy with your final piece? are there any elements in particular?
i am very happy with my end product. i amy happy that i have incorporated a maze for children and the characters are quite amusing.

- is there anything you would change? if so why?
i think i would change the layout slightly because it doesn't all go, and i also i would change the characters to be more appropriate for the juice pack.

Magazine Evaluation

- What was the theme for this project?

  • The theme for this project was magazine design, and we got to design our magazine based around something that we were interested in so I chose fashion, some people chose camera phones etc.

- How have you developed your ideas? How did your work change through the project?

  • At the start of the project, I changed my initial pencil draft the way that it looked and some of the words that the cover had on it. The I changed the model and the whole of the photo that I was going to use because it fitted the original photo more. I also changed the colour's and the font of my writing to make it look more professional. and in the end i used a reddy pink and a light and dark grey the writing was black and white, and it fitted nicely together.
- How any photographs did you take? Do you think you should have done more or less?

  • I took around 9 photos of 2 different people I think I should of done more to change the lighting positions and the area in which I took the photos. I think I should of took more photo's so I had wider range of photos to choose from.
- What artist or designers have you looked at to help and inspire you?

  • Through out the project I looked at Vogue, Elle, Seventeen and also a range of photos from a photo shoot or Kirsten Stewert, Megan Fox, Gwen Stafani, Justin Bieber Drake etc. Famous people. I finally chose 'Megan Fox Elle Magazine Photoshoot 2009'  http://b4tea.com/entertainment/cover-shot/megan-fox-elle-magazine-photoshoot-2009/ I twigged my photo so it was slightly different to the origional but it is the same in many ways, I made sure the model had the same colour hair and that she had her hair over her shoulder, her head was slightly slanted, but I made her crouch down/bend her legs a little so it looked like she was sitting so my photo was different to the original.
- How have your skills developed during the project? Photography and Photoshop.

  • My skills using photoshop editing the phto i used for my magazine have improver a enormous amount. I havent used photoshop for a while and i new some thing about the software in the first place but i learned how to cut round a whole photo and how to import fonts from the website dafont.com. Which was easy. Also how to crop and movie etc. Taking photo's wasn't a big thing for me but I've been able to develop my range of photo taking skills, and to know where to have have a lot of light and wether to not or to have light in the photo. I am happier and more confident when using photoshop and taking photo's.
- Are there any aspects of you work you would like to study further?

  • I would like to use photoshop and further my range of skills on photoshop to much more confident with the software. Without being scared with doing something wrong and to be confident to try different things out.
- How have you used formal elements such as line, tone, colour and shape?

  • When I chose my type face for my magazine, I wanted it to stand out. Especially the master head. I wanted it to be thin but also bold and a stocky type face. I chose white as the 'master head's' font colour because it stood out to rest of my magazine, because the rest of the colours on my magazine were a redish pink and a light and dark grey, so on top of that the white stood out.
- What meaning and messages did you want to convey and were you successful?

  • The messages that I wanted to get across was fashion and the outside world, and what is actually going on at the current moment and the 'summer' fashion theme even though the magazine was designed in the winter.
- Are you happy with your final piece? Are there any elements you like in particular?

  • I am happier then i thought i was at first, but i am over the moon at how professional to me it looks and how good it turned out. the way my knowledge of photo taking and photoshop helped a lot with the making of the magazine and if I didn't have these resources it would of looked unprofessional and messy. I am impressed in how it turned out when  I started the project late. The bit that i like in particular is the master head because it is recognisable even thought the 'B' is hidden behind the head of the model of the magazine. it also stands out and I love the font that i chosen because it very similar to the font of the vogue magazine.
- Is there anything you would change? Why?

  • if i was to re-make the magazine i would change the oriantation of the stories and notes on the front of the magazine. I would also changed the back image (the models photo) because I think it would of looked better with a natural background on the magazine instead of editing the photo's background out and then making my own background.
